Get Your QuickBooks Back in Order—and Move Forward with Numbers You Trust

See where your business stands and know what comes next.

I clean up behind or unreliable records for service businesses.

When You Can't Trust What QuickBooks Is Showing You

Meanwhile, the business keeps moving. Another month closes, more activity is added, and the records you already question become harder to untangle.

When the books can’t reliably show what happened, they can’t answer the questions you need them to answer. You’re left wondering what can stay, what needs to be corrected, and where to begin.

The way forward starts with understanding where your books stand—and what they need next.

Let’s Make Sense of What Happened

Tona Gilmore

Owner & Bookkeeper

I understand how bookkeeping gets pushed aside while the work of the business is happening in real time. A receipt gets tucked away, mileage is scribbled on a note, and an invoice waits until the urgent work is finished. Other times, the information was entered—but the reports still don’t reflect what happened. None of it seems disastrous in the moment, but the questions keep collecting.

Eventually, you’re trying to reconstruct months of business activity while wondering what was missed or recorded incorrectly. The business kept moving, but the bookkeeping system couldn’t keep pace with the way the work actually happened.

I’m a trained bookkeeper and certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor, and I continue building that expertise through ongoing mentorship with experienced bookkeepers and CPA coaches. I know how to trace what happened, identify what needs attention, and put the work in a sensible order—while explaining the parts that matter in plain language.

Bookkeeping is a learned system, not something every business owner should already know. Good bookkeeping should make the business easier to see—and the next decision easier to make.

Your Books Back in Order—Here’s What That Looks Like

A Cleanup Plan Built Around Your Books

You know what needs attention and what comes next, with a plan based on what your file actually needs.

Problems Corrected at the Source

Old errors stop following your books forward because the transactions and setup behind them are corrected.

Missing Months Brought Current

Your current books have a reliable starting point when the backlog has been completed in order.

Accounts Reconciled to Your Statements

You aren’t left choosing which balance to believe because QuickBooks and your statements are brought into agreement.

A System You Can Keep Using

Keeping your books current is easier after cleanup because your file is organized for ongoing use.

Reports That Reflect Your Business

You can see where the business stands and what comes next, with corrected reports and clear explanations of the important changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Some books are primarily behind, some contain errors that need to be corrected, and many have a combination of both.

You don’t need to determine what kind of help you need before contacting me. I’ll review your QuickBooks file, identify what needs attention, and provide a quote for bringing the agreed period back into order.

In many cases, correcting the current file gives the business a stronger and more complete record moving forward. Starting over can remove useful financial history without resolving all of the questions in the existing books. However, there are situations where beginning with a new file is the better choice.

I’ll review what you already have and recommend the path that gives you reliable books without discarding information unnecessarily.

No. Your books don’t need to be organized before you contact me.

Once I understand what the project involves, I’ll give you a clear list of any access, statements, or other information I need and explain why I’m requesting it. You may need to answer questions about particular transactions or how your business operates, but I’ll take care of the bookkeeping work involved in the cleanup.

As a general planning estimate, cleaning up a 12-month period often takes about four to six weeks.

Your project may take more or less time depending on the number of accounts involved, the condition of the books, and how quickly any requested information is available. After reviewing your QuickBooks file, I’ll include a project-specific time range with your quote.

If you’re working toward a particular deadline, let me know during your exploratory call so I can tell you whether it can reasonably be accommodated.

Cleanup is quoted as a fixed project price because the cost depends on how far back the work goes, the number and activity of your accounts, and the corrections your books require.

After our exploratory call, I’ll review your QuickBooks file and prepare a proposal outlining the work included, deliverables, timeline, and price. You’ll be able to review everything before deciding whether to move forward.

If I later uncover something that would materially change the agreed scope, I’ll explain what I found and get your approval before adding any work or cost.

Your books will be corrected through the date included in our agreement. You’ll also know what was addressed, whether anything still requires attention, and what the next step should be.

From there, you’ll have a reliable starting point you can maintain, hand off, or use for monthly bookkeeping going forward.

Let’s Talk Through What Your Books Need.
